Sometimes it's not
about knowing the answer,
but being inside
the question together.
-Andrea Gibson
Welcome. I'm Kaaren.
(You may be wondering how to say my name. It's like saying "car-in" the garage. Don't worry - I'll help you!)

I know how difficult life can be.
The difficulties we encounter throughout life can be exacerbated by feeling we can't share certain parts of ourselves with others (let alone accept them within ourselves) and that we must somehow get by on our own. This can lead to feeling stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, and hopeless.
My mission is to create a safe and welcoming space where you can be deeply met in every detail of your story. With a felt sense of acceptance and belonging, you can begin to make sense of how you struggle. With curiosity, you can discover what gets in the way of your growth and ability to connect with deserving others. You can let go of that which no longer serves you and develop new ways of being.
When we feel more secure within ourselves and our trusted relationships, we are better equipped to navigate the myriad experiences across the lifespan.
Care for Adults
I work one-on-one with adults who feel stuck or at odds with themselves and struggle to connect with others and form meaningful, nurturing relationships.
This can sound like:
-
“No matter how hard I try, things aren't working."
-
"Something’s wrong with me."
-
"If only I can get rid of this part of myself, or perform better, or find the right relationship, then everything will be OK."
I meet clients in the tangle of these experiences. As you experience safety with me, we begin to unravel what's not working, bringing order, coherence, and self-compassion. Together, we create experiences in which the healing that has been so needed can take place. When increased belonging within the self is gained, so does clarity in identifying, reaching for, and connecting with worthy others.
Care for Caregivers
I provide a haven where caregivers can prioritize their own care.
If you are in a caregiving role, you have likely felt emotionally taxed and overwhelmed. Care needs can show up in ways that feel like an unwelcome interruption. Having to make important care decisions on the fly can be excruciating, especially when there are no clear good options.
I have lived experience in this role. It was gut-wrenching and confusing when I wasn't always my best self and lost patience. Often, hindsight in care decisions brought regret and guilt.
So often, frustration directed inward or at the situation needs grace and tenderness. I offer this space for you.
Care for Older Adults
My work with older adults includes learning to respond to changes in the self, others, and the world, while finding value and meaning in one's life journey and the experiences that have shaped it.
Our work together might focus on exploring fears and losses associated with aging, as well as delighting in the gains in mental health and well-being many also experience.
I love witnessing how clients bloom and grow at any age, and sharing in the existential realities that often surface when reflecting on the finality of life.
